EndSARS: Petitioners grumble over nonpayment of compensation in Akwa-Ibom

Petitioners at the Judicial panel of enquiry set up by the Akwa Ibom State government over incidences of police brutality in the state have complained about the non-payment of compensations to them by the state government.
A petitioner and native of Urueffong Oruko local government Area, who spoke with newsmen at the weekend in Uyo complained of how her hope of getting monetary compensation was dashed after providing evidence of how police officers invaded her residence, shot her on the leg and fled.
The petitioner who simply identified herself as Mary said she is handicapped in the affected limb due to a lack of funds to access proper medical treatment.

Some gunmen with AK-47 rifles and suspected to be herdsmen on Tuesday evening killed one person while two others sustained gunshot injuries along Osogbo/Ibokun road, Osun State.
It was gathered that the gunmen intercepted the bus travelling along the route and started shooting at the people while trying to escape. One person died while two others sustained bullet injury.
It could not be ascertained if the gunmen were robbers or kidnappers, a police source told DAILY POST.
The incident occurred around 7:30 pm beside Aje Bamidele village in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.
The spokesperson of Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola told DAILY POST on Wednesday, that some units of security operatives have launched a manhunt on the attackers.

The Judicial Panel of Investigation on Incidences of Police Brutality in Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday struck out the petition against a member representing Etinan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and former Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon Onofiok Luke over its pendency at the appellant court.
Recall that one Dr. David Udo had on the 15th of November filed a petition against the lawmaker alleging that sometime in 2017, security operatives attached to the then Speaker (Onofiok Luke) assaulted him, breached his fundamental rights for which reason he prayed the panel to open an investigation into the allegation.
