After approximately 10 hours of public comment at the Santa Cruz City Council meeting regarding the passage of a resolution calling for a cease-fire in the war between Isreal and Hamas, a substitute motion with an alternative resolution was made by Councilmember Scott Newsome around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.
After the effective date of Justice Silver’s resignation, the Judicial Selection Commission will begin the process of vetting applicants to fill the vacancy.
Silver Alert for Dane County man canceled

MADISON, Wis. A Silver Alert for a missing Dane County man has been canceled.
According to a release from the Department of Justice, 78-year-old Cyril M. Hetsko has been found safe.
Madison police said Hetsko was found at an airport in Chicago after an employee grew concerned about him.
Hetsko is currently with Chicago police as Madison police detectives work to arrange for family to meet him.
