The court was hearing a plea seeking the formulation of rules defining the procedure for inquiries and investigations of the national anti-graft watchdog. The petitioner, advocate Tariq Mansoor, contended in the plea that NAB had been functioning without rules for years now. He maintained that it is compulsory for the bureau to have rules for its inquiries under section 34 of the National Accountability Bureau Ordinance.

The court also issued contempt of court notices to the Sindh chief secretary and other parties. At the hearing, counsel for the petitioner, advocate Shamsul Islam, contended that the demolition of the properties by the Sindh government was an act of revenge and that the provincial had wrongly interpreted the Supreme Court s order on the matter.

When Justice Kalhoro inquired why the report was not submitted at the last hearing, the AG said he was preoccupied in Islamabad and thus could not appear at the last hearing.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Shamsuddin Abbasi was hearing the bail pleas of those accused in the case pertaining to misappropriation of funds at the health facility. The National Accountability Bureau s prosecutor informed the court that the bureau headquarters has forwarded the case records back to Karachi with the instructions to continue the inquiry. The court will be informed of the progress once the inquiry is completed, he said.
