The students from Milliones, Perry and Westinghouse are part of the Justice Scholars Institute, a program operated by the University of Pittsburgh School of Education that prepares PPS students to be advocates for change and social justice. It also allows the students to earn college credits while still in high school.
A University of Pittsburgh program to help local under-resourced students prepare for college just got a big financial boost. The Hillman Foundation has given Pitt's Justice Scholars Institute half a million dollars to train high school educators to teach advanced courses for college credit.

On March 2, the 2021 Community Engaged Scholarship Forum recognized the people and groups recipients of the Partnerships of Distinction honor, as well as the CESF Collaboration Champion and Tracy Soska and John Wilds Outreach and Engagement Leadership awards. “Here at the University of Pittsburgh, our commitment to serve extends beyond our campus.
