The N.C. Supreme Court hears its first oral arguments of 2023 on Tuesday morning. Four cases scheduled from 9:30 a.m. through 3 p.m. mark the first public business for the court since voters made a significant change in its partisan composition.
The N.C. Supreme Court has rejected a request from developers to rehear a case involving disputed water and sewer fees in Harnett County. An Oct. 13 order denied the request without comment.
With just weeks to go until the November midterm elections, both major political parties have their eyes on the North Carolina Supreme Court, where control of the court is up for grabs. Two seats are on the ballot. If Republicans win even one, the balance of the court shifts from left-leaning to right-leaning.
