Mumbai, Feb 22: The Bombay High Court was on Monday informed by the Byculla womens prison authorities that the medical condition of Indrani Mukerjea, accused of killing her daughter Sheena Bora, is stable and that she does not suffer from any severe ailments.
A report was submitted by prison authorities following directions earlier this month from HC, which is hearing a plea filed by Mukerjea seeking bail on medical grounds.
She is lodged in Byculla womens prison since her arrest in August 2015.
As per the jail report submitted before a single bench of Justice P D Naik on Monday, Mukerjea does not suffer from any severe ailments that cannot be treated at the prison.
Bombay High Court noted that she was a permanent resident of Mumbai while the FIR was lodged in Delhi, and that the relief sought by her was only temporary

MUMBAI: The Bombay HC on Wednesday granted transit anticipatory bail to Nikita Jacob. The HC noted that its Aurangabad bench had on Tuesday granted similar relief for 10 days to Shantanu Muluk, another activist from Beed against whom a Delhi court had issued a non-bailable warrant, like it had against Jacob. Such a warrant would result in their arrest.
“It is apparent that Jacob had made herself available,” said Justice P D Naik while granting relief. He said, “It is not disputed that she is a resident of Mumbai, and it is also mentioned that Delhi police had recorded her statement, seized her laptop and documents (on February 11).”
The Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted transit anticipatory bail to advocate Nikita Jacob, a suspect in a case registered by Delhi police in connection with the toolkit shared by climate activist Greta Thunberg over the ongoing farmers protest.
Justice P D Naik gave Jacob three weeks time to approach the court concerned in Delhi for relief.
The court in its order noted the applicant (Jacob) is a permanent resident of Mumbai and the FIR is lodged in Delhi, and the relief sought by her now is only temporary. The applicant apprehends that she will be arrested at any point of time. She has to make arrangements to seek relief from a court in another state. Hence, this court is of the opinion that protection as sought by the applicant can be granted for a temporary period, Justice Naik said.

On Tuesday, another suspect in the case, Shantanu Muluk, an engineer based in Maharashtra s Beed district, was also granted transit anticipatory bail for 10 days by the HC s Aurangabad bench. Jacob and Muluk, who claim to be environmental activists, had approached the HC after a Delhi court issued non-bailable warrants against them.
