Court Jails Poly, Varsity Students For Internet Crime

  A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State has convicted and sentenced two students for fraudulent impersonation. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday by its Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, saying its Ibadan Zonal Office secured the conviction of the defendants. Both men – Opeyemi Folarin and Ogunseye Olamilekan – were brought before Justice Patricia Ajoku who convicted them of the crime they were accused of. Folarin is said to be a Higher National Diploma (HND) student of The Ibadan Polytechnic and Ogunseye claims to be a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), in Ogun State.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan Zonal Office said it secured the conviction of the two accused persons on Wednesday. According to the Head, Media and Publicity, EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, Folarin, who claimed to be 27-year-old Higher National Diploma student of The Polytechnic Ibadan and Ogunseye, who claimed to be a student of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta were found guilty of separate amended lone count of impersonation.

Internet fraudster bags 12 months in prison over US$1 750 scam

Daily Post Nigeria Published An Ibadan-based Internet fraudster, Ibrahim Tunde-Akinsola, was on Friday sentenced to 12 months in prison by a Federal High Court, sitting at Adeoyo-Ringroad in Ibadan, over a US$1,750 fraud. Delivering judgment, Justice Patricia Ajoku held that she convicted and sentenced Tunde-Akinsola based on the evidence before her as well as the plea bargain agreement he entered into with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). “This judgment is in line with the provisions of Section 270 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015 that provides for a reduced sentence for anyone who enters a plea bargain agreement.
