One of eight battleships that were moored here on december 7th, 1941. At 7 55, that quiet sunday morning, waves of japanese airplanes suddenly appeared overhead unleashing bombs and torpedoes in a savage surprise attack. In less than two hours, more than 300 u. S. Aircraft were wrecked, 21 u. S. Navy ships damaged or sunk and more than 2400 americans dead or dying. How could this happen . Was it simply a colassel intelligence failure, a lack of readiness .
