Kenyans have come to the aid of Julius Wambua, a man who was recently released from the Kamiti Maximum Prison after a court invalidated his life sentence.
Wambua, who had been jailed for an offence he didn t commit, had opened up about his struggles settling down in the community, saying that he had no place to call home.
Former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile has since gifted Wambua a 2-acre piece of land and has offered to build him a house.
Joy as man freed of false accusation on raping his daughter after 8 years
It was a moment engulfed with tears of joy after a man who had been serving a life imprisonment sentence after he was convicted of incest eight years ago was set free after new evidence emerged exonerating him.
In a landmark judgement delivered by Justice George Odunga in Machakos yesterday, Julius Wambua Musyoki was allowed to walk to freedom after the court quashed the jail sentence meted on him on January 24, 2012, by a principal magistrate’s court in Kithimani.
Justice Odunga directed that Wambua be freed on a Sh30,000 cash bail pending fresh trial or any appeal by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Pay judges from private practice Sh100,000 more, SRC ordered

The court had heard that judges who were hired from private practice were paid a starting basic salary of Sh532,500 per month and a non-practising allowance of Sh13,500 while those promoted from magistrates started with a pay of Sh632,000 and a non-practising allowance of Sh13,500.
Justice Odunga noted that judges recruited from within or outside the Judiciary perform similar tasks and by failing to harmonise their remuneration, the SRC had abdicated its constitutional and statutory mandate.
The High Court has ordered the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) to increase salaries of judges appointed from outside the Judiciary by at least Sh100,000 in compliance with a decision made in December last year.
Man Framed For Raping Daughter Gets Another Shot At Justice
A man who was sentenced to life in prison for allegedly raping his daughter has had his conviction quashed ahead of a retrial.
Julius Wambua had already served eight years in prison before his daughter recanted her damning statement. Wambua’s story aired on Citizen TV’s ‘Prison Diaries’ in March 2019, when his sobbing daughter Dorcas Wambua claimed that her mother orchestrated the defilement case.
Dorcas confessed that her mother coerced her to frame her father for personal gain.
On Wednesday, High Court Judge George Odunga overturned the sentence and released Wambua on a cash bail of Sh30,000 pending retrial.
