The court suggested that restricting access to social media platforms for this demographic might be in the best interest of the nation. The court also mentioned the possibility of setting an age limit of either 21 or 18, aligning with the age when individuals gain the right to vote.
The Karnataka High Court observed that unwarranted publicity can be avoided if the government agrees to reconsider and pass reasoned orders in relation to 2021-22 demands to block tweets and Twitter/ X Corp accounts.
The court made the remarks while hearing an appeal filed by X (formerly Twitter) in a case concerning the Centres orders to block certain tweets and accounts in 2021 and 2022.
