Vijay Kumar was charged with the offence in 2016 after he repeatedly beat his wife with an iron rod. The victim suffered severe head injuries and multiple face and scalp lacerations requiring intensive care and ventilator support for 10 days. he was transferred to the CWM Hospital for further dental surgical treatment. “The injuries suffered by the alleged victim are evident of the accused acting far beyond the mere preparation,” stated Justice Chamath Morais in his December 9 ruling.
