New Zealand s longest-serving prisoner Alfred Vincent has died.
Vincent was one of the first people to be sentenced to preventive detention in 1968 after he was convicted of indecently assaulting five boys aged 12-14.
The Christchurch man spent more than 50 years in prison before being released earlier this year.

Vincent had deteriorated mentally and physically while in prison.

The Royal New Zealand Airforce and Warbirds Over Wanaka have been ordered to pay more than $616,000 to replace a vintage aeroplane damaged when it hit a cherry picker in a crash at the airshow. The wing of Arthur Dovey’s Yak-3M hit one of two cherry pickers parked on a grass runway during a display at the 2018 Warbirds Over Wanaka show. Dovey was unaware the cherry pickers had been moved onto the runway and the crash extensively damaged his plane, though he was unharmed.

Warbirds Over Wanaka and the Royal New Zealand Airforce have been found liable for a crash at the 2018 event which left a pilot unharmed but his vintage aircraft destroyed.
A recently released High Court judgement saw both ordered to pay a total of $616,500 plus GST, an amount to be apportioned by the court if the parties could not decide what percentage to pay between them.
The damages determination by Justice Jill Mallon covered the amount the company owned by pilot Arthur Dovey, Dovey Aviation Consulting Limited, said it would cost to repair his Yak-3M, after the World War 2 Russian aircraft he was flying hit one of two cherry pickers parked on a grass runway.

Two people who filmed themselves try to put a plastic spoon up their sleeping friend s anus are appealing their convictions and sentences for indecent assault.
The offending, passed off by the pair as a prank among friends, happened following a drunken night out in 2019 while the victim was asleep in the back of a car.
According to a summary of facts, the victim had consumed an unknown amount of alcohol and cannabis during the night and was severely intoxicated .
