Federal Court Justice Anna Katzmann on Friday said Mr Palmer, the Queensland mining magnate, former federal MP and founder of the United Australia Party (UAP), had given false evidence to âexculpate himselfâ from responsibility for trashing rights held by Universal Music.
Justice Katzmann ordered Mr Palmer to pay $1.5 million and rejected his defence that the recording used in his ads was created independently of the 1984 hit.
