Since 1911 preservation virginia has shared the chief justices life and legacy. We are grateful to many descendents who have over the years returned books furnishing tableware and personal items. These objects bring the room alive and it doesnt take much to imagine the activities of the family the household and the many guests who visited. There are no artifacts that better define marshalls career than the robe he wore for his tenure as chief justice of the United States Supreme Court. The room is cared for by generations of descendents before finding its way into our collection. The robe is a witness object and if robes could talk what a story this one could share. Ben franklin, of course, had been had switched. He had owned slaves when he was younger, he became a leading abolitionist, ben franklin. People can change. Washington couldnt change that much. But on his deathbed hed written two wills. With we dont know what was in one. On his death bed he asked that both be brought to him. He tore up one and asked that it be burned. And the one that remains is the one that freed the slaves. Washington was a man of action, not of words. And he must have believed, because this was that this act would send a message to the future. Guy is a narrow scientist at umc who also is an advisor to the nfl getting the sensors used in professional football for a period of years now and just a couple weeks ago the nfl announced again that they are not going to use them. The reality is that they did use them they would lead up a lot of information about the amount of force and generated on the field and how many times people are hit in the head. Sort of a nobrainer. The league doesnt seem to want it and the players dont want it because they dont want the information to be used in contract negotiations. So where does that leave you if you want to get to the bottom. They took a college game two seasons ago and theres a presence of protein, a marker in the blood. And they found in a game with no concussions, no diagnose concussions, 70 of the players hit the marker, which is a precursor to longterm injury. It is a protein that gets on the brain.
