i thought that was a great article. we talked about that on the show. i think people need to understand the tools and resources that law enforcement need and communities stricken by violence now you have in this particular city total unrest economic despair which will only lead to further violence and crime on the street. you have uncertainty in the department because they do not need that those officials put in place to be impartial that justice is blind to make sure and fully and fair ligate the facts, they re not doing that. that s the problem. proactive policing which works well as we ve seen in cities like new york and there s aggressive policing julie, nobody is in favor of that. there may be a few bad apples. had the president of the united states wag his fingers at the cops like he has done so many times and talk about how he would love to federalize the police force that only sends a message to cops that they are the enemy. marilyn mosby was prosecuting someone, who sh
reporting, for what you ve been showing the world from all the video from the temperature, elizabeth, this very high obviously, it s calmed down now as a result of the indictments. but once this trial begins once witnesses are called you can see, you know similar scenes. i hope not. but anything to sort of take that temperature down ratchet it down. i do believe in that respect a change of venue is appropriate. some are concerns when she spoke in terms of speaking justice it wasn t for all. that was struck me. the tone of it struck a lot of people as not what you want to hear from a state attorney. it needs to be balanced. justice is blind. it s not a function of a particular group or a particular series of folks in the streets. it s blind. it is what it s. the evidence is going to show what it shows. as you know we do not know what the evidence will reveal come trial time. i want to read a quote.
you say, it just can t be. it s not just this case. we have talked about ferguson but if you re here in knenew orleans new york, it s not just ferguson. it s trayvon martin and others. so there is a pattern and there s a pattern that goes back a long time that happens to be a frequency now but people feel that they are disconnected from the justice system. and if this democracy has one institution that stabilizes society, it is the justice system. justice for all, justice is blind. and when you have a significant portion of the population that feels the system isn t working, you have a problem and we have a problem and let s acknowledge it. we certainly do. people are asking this bottom line question.
professor gates here in the northeast when he got into a scuffle with some police officers, trayvon martin, we ve seen him weigh in, give some big race speeches. i m just very disappointed as a former prosecutor. i think that with good reason, this is one of the most disliked and distrusted attorney generals that we ve ever had in u.s. history. everything that he does has a partisan tone to it. i think his behavior is irresponsible and inappropriate. this is an area where justice is blind. he s not supposed to be inserting race as a defense. mechanism constantly, thin skin here is what i see. i want to say this. he s not helping the president, either, by using this rhetoric. i saw officer thor on yesterday. he said this. i want to tell people what he said. it broadens out the issue here. he said, quote, this is an attempt to chill free speech. that s exactly what holder is up to and obama hides behind that shield as well. again, those are brad thor s words. he s right. to be
until everybody can fully participate in this country. one of my father s favorite quotes was along this line until justice is blind to color, until people are unaware of race, until education is unconcerned with the color of men s skin, emancipation will be a proclamation but not a fact. so it is today. not a fact, but in coming together and reasoning at the summit, we hope we ll make strides so that one day it will be. wow. i feel like i m here hearing the cadence of your dad in there. only then will we overcome. nicole, i want to ask you, what do you want to hear from president obama? what message do you hope he s going to bring? i hope and i think that president obama will come here and see just how much and how
