Calcutta HC grants interim bail to TMC leaders arrested in Narada case High court imposes certain conditions on heavyweights who furnished bonds of Rs 2 lakh each
A five-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court on Friday granted interim bail to the quartet of Subrata Mukherjee, Firhad Hakim, Madan Mitra and Sovan Chatterjee under judicial custody since May 17 in connection with the Narada bribery sting operation case.
The five-judge bench comprising acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, Justices IP Mukerji, Harish Tandon, Soumen Sen and Arijit Mukherjee while granting interim bail has expressly barred the four - two ministers, a legislator and a politician without a political party - not to give interviews on the case or hold any discussions on it in the media.
Kolkata: May 28: In a significant development in the Narada sting operation case, a freshly constituted five-judge Division Bench granted interim bail to the four arrested Trinamool leaders Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, Madan Mitra and Sovon Chatterjee, on Friday.
The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, and Justices Arijit Banerjee, I.P. Mukherjee, Harish Tandon and Soumen Sen asked the two state cabinet ministers, an MLA and a former Kolkata Mayor to submit personal bond of Rs 2 lakh each with two sureties.
The court also said that the accused cannot tamper or influence evidence and will have to join the investigation by video conferencing.

Kolkata, May 24 : The five-member division bench of the Calcutta High Court constituted by Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal for the hearing of the bail petition of the heavyweight leaders on Monday adjourned the hearing till May 26.
The larger bench was constituted after there was split judgement by a two-member division bench of Bindal and Arijit Banerjee.
The larger bench comprising ACJ Rajesh Bindal, Justices Harish Tandon, IP Mukerji, Arijit Banerjee and Soumen Sen after a two-hour long hearing on the issues to be formulated in the case from both the CBI and the defence council decided to adjourn the case till Wednesday.
