The National Judicial Council (NJC) has admitted that Justice Ibrahim Rufai Imam (the Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory) has not forwarded a notice of retirement to it. SaharaReporters learnt that the NJC gave the admission in an NJC letter with ref N0. NJC/SCA/F.6/II/637 and addressed as response to an inquiry by an anti-corruption group, the Network Against Corruption & Trafficking.
An anti-corruption civic group, the Network Against Corruption and Trafficking (NACAT) has written to the National Judicial Commission (NJC) demanding immediate retirement of the Grand Khadi of Sharia Court of Appeal, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Justice Ibrahim Rufai Imam. The group made the demand in the letter dated October 30, 2023, signed by its Manager, Onuoha Johnson Baba, and addressed to the Chairman of NJC.
None of these career extensions seem to have been caused by the indispensability of the selected incumbent or the non-availability of talent down the bureaucratic pyramid.
