LAHORE: Release of Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly has been halted as written judgment in his bail matter in alleged money laundering reference yet has not been released by the Lahore High Court (LHC).
A two-judge bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) comprising Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Asjad Javed Ghural on April 13 had granted bail to opposition leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who was arrested in a money laundering case. However, the release order of Shahbaz Sharif could not be issued on Friday as the written decision of bail has not been issued yet, due to which the release on bail of Shahbaz Sharif has been postponed. According to the law, the release of the PML-N president is not possible till a written bail is issued after the signatures of the two judges in the two-member bench.

The LHC bench comprising Justice Sardar Mohammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Asjad Javed Ghural after hearing the final arguments of National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) prosecutor and counsel for the former chief minister on April 14 had risen after telling the parties that they would be informed about its decision shortly.

After three days of confusion, mystery and speculations, it has now transpired that the matter of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif s post-arrest bail will be decided by a referee judge to be appointed by the Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan.
Shehbaz, who is facing a NAB case, had applied for a post-arrest bail and an LHC division bench comprising Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Asjad Javed Ghural on April 14 briefly reserved the judgment after hearing arguments of both the parties.

Rumours continued in the Lahore High Court premises for the third consecutive day on Saturday over the fate of a post-arrest bail granted to PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif in a money laundering case, as another member of the bench has still not signed the order.
The legal fraternity is of the view that “it is crystal clear now that Justice Asjad Javed Ghural will write a dissenting note” and the matter will be sent to a third judge, who is yet to be nominated by LHC Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan.
