Embattled High Court Judge and former secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC) Justice Lloyd Lloyd Muhala has been stripped off his judicial powers to preside over cases in the court of law due to him facing criminal charges.
Registrar of the High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal Gladys Gondwe has confirmed that Muhara no longer sits on the bench.
However, in a twist of events, Ombudsman Martha Chizuma also synchronically ordered the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to appraise whether or not Justice Muhara was felicitous and judiciary suitable to serve as a judge in the High Court of Malawi.

The High Court has today issued a seizure and sale order against former president Peter Mutharika and former secretary to the President and Cabinet Lloyd Muhara following their failure to square off part of legal costs after they were faulted for trying to force Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda and Justice Edward Twea to go on leave pending retirement.
According to the order (reprinted here), out of the sum of K69, 507, 461, the two were supposed to pay they have only managed to pay K47, 437, 125.11 and they remain indebted to the applicants in the sum K22, 070, 335.89.
Former Malawian presidential aide cleared of attempted murder charges

RUSTENBURG - Former Malawian presidential aide Norman Chisale has been cleared of attempted murder charges on Friday, Malawi media reported.
Chisale was accused of shooting Sigele Amani on May 20 last year in Blantyre. At the time, he was the bodyguard to former president Peter Mutharika, news website Malawi24 reported.
Judge Sylvester Kalembera discharged him at the Lilongwe High Court, stating that the State had failed to provide evidence that Chisale intended to kill Amani.
Police detective Henry Malange told the court that Chisale had first been charged with accidental shooting, but the charge was amended to attempted murder based on the way the gun had been used.
