The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase Constituency, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka has apologised for any harm done to the image and reputation of the Lord Justices of the Supreme Court and members of the Judiciary.
This follows his allegation that a Justice of the Supreme Court tried to bribe a National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament-elect (MP) to influence her in the election of a Speaker of Parliament.
“Based upon good counsel, I have also decided to let sleeping dogs lie and will consequently refrain from any further public commentary on the matter which, as I have indicated was originally reported to me by a female colleague Parliamentarian,” part of a release sighted by JoyNews read.
The direcetive comes on the back of a upsurge in the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Ghana.
A letter dated January 27, 2021 and signed by the Judicial Secretary, Justice Cynthia Pamela Addo indicated that “
all Heads of Departments of the Judicial Service are requested to draw up a schedule to ensure that only skeletal staff remain at post at any particular time”.

The Office of the Judicial Secretary says it has noted with grave concern the allegations made by Mohammed Muntaka-Mubarak (NDC- AsawaseMP) to the effect that a Justice of the Supreme Court attempted bribing a female NDC MP to vote for Professor Mike Oquaye in the election of Speaker for Ghana’s 8th Parliament.
A statement signed by Justice Cynthia Pamela Addo, the Judiciary Secretary, read: “The general public is hereby assured that the Hon. Chief Justice considers this allegation of impropriety a matter of grave import to the integrity of the Judiciary.”
The Chief Justice, according to the statement, has commenced steps to solicit the assistance of the MP for Asawase to establish the facts in order that the matter can be dealt with appropriately.
