The Bombay High Court has ruled that a DNA test cannot be said to be the conclusive evidence in a rape case, and can only be used for the purpose of corroboration.
While rejecting Jogdhankar’s bail, the HC noted in its 12-page order, that the circumstances relied upon by the prosecution connect Jogdhankar with the crime and that they “prima facie point to his guilt”.
Justice Bharti Dangre granted pre-arrest bail to Swati Sonkar on July 1 and directed that, in case of arrest, she be released against a personal bond of Rs 25,000.
