Summary
In the coming week, the country will open a new leaf as it starts the next leadership cycle of a new government. But will the new parliament also be fresh in terms of approach and ideas? Or will the new faces in parliament also lack new ideas?
There are now 529 MPs, before the president adds a dozen or more non-elected members whom he will appoint as ministers.

March 2, 2021 Chief justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo
If I were Chief Justice Alphonse Owiny-Dollo chairing a panel of justices of the Supreme court making an inquest in the January 14, 2021 presidential elections, I would demand for Kyagulanyi’s respect of the judiciary.
I would be unequivocal on that and tell him about Roper cutting down the forest in Man of All Seasons. I would say: Court has a sanctity.
Nevertheless, as a long serving official in Ugandan courts, I would quickly remember that this sanctity is not absolute because in recent history, court has ever been (invaded) raped, implying that what it delivers is not always justice.

Bobi Wine yesterday announced that he would be withdrawing a petition he had filed to overturn Yoweri Museveni’s January 14, 2021 re-election.
Under section 61 of the Presidential Elections Act, a presidential election petition can only be withdrawn with leave of court, meaning whereas Bobi’s press conference proclamation yesterday was politically pivotal, it was not legally conclusive.
