Recycle your Christmas tree and raise money for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd

CH66 The Just Helping website states that money raised from each tree collection will go directly to patient care. The charity adds: It costs approximately £11,000 to run the hospice for a day, but the costs that individuals can help with are the patients meals per day, which are around £15, a physiotherapy session for £50, or £100 to heat the hospice per day in this cold weather. Residents can also drop off their real Christmas trees after January 4 for Cheshire West and Chester Council to reuse them in parks and open spaces at the following locations: Hooton Golf Club Chester Road, Hooton, Ellesmere Port, CH66 1QF

Cheshire West and Chester green bin collections suspended until February

GREEN bin collections are being suspended until February, Cheshire West and Chester Council has confirmed. The authority says the move will ensure kerbside waste and recycling collections are maintained during the busy festive period and help the service cope with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Garden waste collection is normally suspended for four weeks over the winter period and this year was scheduled to happen between December 14 and January 10, 2021. Collection service calendars had been delivered to every household in the borough confirming the four-week garden waste suspension period. However, a decision has since been taken to extend this suspension from January 11 to February 8.
