Alabama Lands 4-Star Center; Oats Hauling in a Top-5 Class
Alabama head basketball coach Nate Oats just led the Crimson Tide to one of its best basketball seasons in program history. Oats and his staff are already onto year three as the focus turns to 2021 roster management. Alabama received a commitment from 6-foot-11 forward Charles Bediako out of IMG Academy, elevating Alabama s 2021 recruiting class to No. 3 in the nation according to 247 Sports.
He chose Alabama over Duke, Michigan, Ohio State and Texas.
Bediako continues the Canada-to-Tuscaloosa pipeline as he follows Josh Primo and Keon Ambrose-Hylton to the Capstone. He is the No. 4 ranked center and the No. 26 ranked prospect in the class according to 247Sports.
Bama Hoops ranked high in early Top 25 predictions
The 2021-22 Alabama men’s basketball team is already attracting hype as several media outlets around the country have the Crimson Tide highly ranked heading into next season.
Most notably, the Washington Post ranked Alabama as the No. 1 team entering the preseason, citing the return of emergent point guard Jahvon Quinerly, and the added depth of Letohatchee, Alabama five star guard JD Davison.
Despite losing a great deal of senior production in Herb Jones, John Petty and Alex Reese, CBS Sports own Gary Parrish has the Crimson Tide ranked as the No. 3 ranked team in his never-too-early Top 25. Parrish added Alabama’s recent success recruiting could give them a solid shot at “back-to-back conference championships”. ESPN s early top 25 saw the Crimson Tide seated a little farther down at the No. 8 spot, but top 10 nonetheless.
History Not Favoring Bama Recruiting Classes
With the commitment of Charles Bediako, the Crimson Tide basketball team has ascended into the top-3 of 247Sports Men s Basketball Recruiting Rankings for 2021. Bediako, a long and athletic big, joins JD Davison, Jusaun Holt, and Langston Wilson, as 2021 commitments for the Tide, further solidifying an already stellar class.
While basketball may still be fresh in many fans minds, and rightfully so, Nick Saban and the football program extended their continued success on the recruiting trail by also securing a top-3 recruiting class for 2021, according to 247Sports. With both programs locking up top ranked classes for the upcoming season, a new level of recruiting for Alabama has been reached, but just how good is that?
