Villages of Junglemahal, West Midnapur suffer acute water crisis, unemployment ANI | Updated: Mar 11, 2021 11:47 IST By Joymala Bagchi West Medinipur (West Bengal) [India], March 10 (ANI): Once a Maoist bastion, Boro Kalshibhanga village situated in the Jugalmahal area in West Midnapur district of West Bengal is facing acute water crisis and unemployment. More than 400 families of Kurmi Mahato, the Other Backward Class (OBC) community residing here at Kalshi Bhanga have to trudge at least a kilometre to get drinking water. During summer the water crisis worsens. Most women of the village work as potato pluckers and people for whom they work have now resorted to paying them wages in potatoes instead of cash. They receive 15 kilograms of potates as payment.
