Over the weekend, Denver7 asked people at Denver's Juneteenth Music Festival to open up about issues they are facing. They shared hopeful opinions about racial progress in recent years but many struck a cautious tone particularly around the pain of ever-rising costs in the Denver metro area.
"Juneteenth is a date that we as African Americans really just choose to hone in on our history," Renee Evans, coordinator of the Juneteenth Music Festival said.
Organizers of the Juneteenth Music Festival and Parade in the Five Points neighborhood expect more than 50,000 people to come out over the course of the weekend, and are working with vendors and city leaders to have crowd control and security measures in place.
