As families in communities all over our nation celebrate Kwanzaa this week, Christina Michelle and our guests Ibn Bailey and Yiana Natasha Bailey will shine a light on the meaning of Kwanzaa, the reason we celebrate Kwanzaa, as well as the special traditions that bring this holiday to life.
They are former Juneau Police Officer Ben Coronell and Sherry Patterson of the Juneau Black Awareness Association.
A release from parade organizers says the grand marshals have been recognized for their efforts in building bridges between the diverse groups that make up our beautiful Capital City.
The theme for this year s parade is Building Bridges Across the Last Frontier.

That s according to Sherry Patterson of the Juneau Black Awareness Association which sponsored the food drives at the Mendenhall Mall Events Center and Super Bear and Foodland IGA downtown. The Juneau community contributed an abundance of much needed items for Love INC and Helping Hands Food Bank, Patterson said.
According to Patterson, Love INC Executive Director guy Crockcoft said the donation was by far the largest single donation they d ever received.
