For 16 months, not a single Carnival Cruise ship departed from the US.
That changed on July 3 when the Carnival Vista ship departed from Galveston, Texas, and made stops in Mahogany Bay, Honduras; Belize; and Cozumel, Mexico.
About 2,700 passengers were aboard the 15-deck ship. According to the company, 95% of its passengers and 98% of the crew were vaccinated.
I was one of those vaccinated passengers, and spent the next seven nights discovering the ways cruising has and hasn t changed for travelers in the name of journalism.
Admittedly, much of the experience felt the same, but there were still some changes. Here are the biggest differences passengers saw aboard the ship.

Mark Zuckerberg announced Wednesday that Facebook will distribute
billion dollars until 2022 among the best content creators for their social networks Facebook and Instagram. With this move, the company seeks to face other platforms such as TikTok by attracting influencers to its platform.
“We want to build the best platforms for millions of creators to earn a living, which is why we are creating new programs to invest more than a billion dollars to reward creators for the great content they create on Facebook and Instagram until 2022.” said the CEO of Facebook in a post.

After six years of service, one of Greensburg’s police dogs has retired.
Falco, who served on the city’s police force since 2015 alongside handler Patrolman Justin Scalzo, retired June 18.
Council members unanimously approved Falco’s retirement during Monday’s meeting.
“We wish him all the best as he begins his well deserved retirement,” Greensburg Mayor Robert Bell said at the meeting.
During his time on the force, Falco assisted in several incidents and has made appearances at events like the Fire Prevention Day held outside Westmoreland Mall and gave demonstrations at Westmoreland County Camp Cadet.
Falco previously served alongside Scalzo with the Jeannette Police Department. Jeannette retired Falco, giving the dog to Scalzo when he moved to Greensburg in 2014. Falco in 2015 joined Dax, then the city’s only police dog. Dax retired last year and died soon after at 13.
