Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya has lamented the rising cases of insecurity in the country characterized by kidnappings, cattle rustling, banditry and insurgency which he described as threats to peaceful coexistence and harmony among the citizenry, saying therefore that only prayers for nation’s stability are what Nigeria requires at the moment.
The Governor expressed the lamentation in a remark during a Ramadan Tafsir session he attended at the Juma’at Mosque of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Gombe conducted by Sheikh Adamu Muhammad Dokoro.
The Governor also urged youths in the state to complement the government’s effort by ensuring proper utilisation of various empowerment programmes and interventions for their benefit and that of the society.

Ganduje cautions against inciting preaching

Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has cautioned Islamic scholars to desist from making inciting statements, which are capable of breaching the peace, while preaching.
Ganduje made the call on Thursday in Kano when he met with Imams of Juma’at Mosque and other Islamic clerics in the state.
He reminded the clerics of their roles in the society, saying that they should always strive to be shining examples both in words and in deeds.
He also appealed to the Imams to fashion out ways that would propagate genuine teachings of the religion.

Hundreds of Kano residents have taken to the streets to protest the seizure of their lands which houses their Jumaat Mosque and Graveyard by the Emir of Kano Aminu Ado Bayero.
The residents of Darmanawa in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State, who are under the auspices of Darmanawa Layout Development Association, accused the Kano emirate council of attempting to illegally grab Y’ar Akwa Eid Praying Ground by Ado Bayero Royal City Trust Fund, an agency of the Kano emirate council.
Addressing journalists at the premises of the land yesterday, Chairman of the eid ground committee, Barrister Tijjani Yahaya alleged that the emirate was planning to snatch the eid ground, located at Darmanawa layout and convert it to residential plots for commercial purpose.
