[미디어펜=석명 기자] 이재성(29)이 유럽 빅리그 진출의 꿈을 이뤘다. 독일 분데스리가 마인츠에 입단했다.
마인츠 구단은 9일 오전(한국시간) 홈페이지를 통해 이재성 영입을 공식 발표했다. 계약 기간은 2024년 여름까지 3년이다.
이로써 이재성은 3년간의 독일 2부리그(분데스리가2) 생활을 청산하고 1부리그 분데스리가 무대에서 뛰게 됐다.

2018 러시아 월드컵에 한국대표팀 멤버로 출전, 인상적인 활약으로 주목 받은 이재성은 2018년 7월 전북 현대를 떠나 독일 2부리그 홀슈타인 킬에 입단했다. 비록 2부리그에서 유럽 생활을 시작했지만 그의 꿈은 빅리그 진출이었고, 결국 스스로의 노력으로 꿈을 현실로 만들었다.
