seven people killed in the july 4th parade shooting, this as we re getting an update on a young paralyzed survivor. ed lavandera is live in highland park for us. what is the latest conditions service this 8-year-old boy. reporter: cooper roberts, who family and friends say was shot through the stomach and the bullet severed his spine. that young boy had been on a ventilator, and sedated since monday. now we are told that the young boy has woke up. he is off the ventilator, but because of the pain medication he is on, he s once again sedated. he has regained consciousness at least temporarily. so the family members are still watching him around the clock. we re told he came too today and was asking for his twins
that citizen picked up the phone and called the second precinct. once inside the residence they saw evidence that corroborated the witness statement. bill: police arresting two suspects charged with possessing firearms with not being u.s. citizens. dana: more details about the july 4th parade shooting in the chicago suburb. authorities say the elected government has confessed to the shooting eye that he considered a second attack in wisconsin. garrett s life of their latest. dana, good morning tea appeared part of the reason we know about this possible second attack is after the alleged gunman was taken into custody police say he waived his miranda rights and told them about the shooting in highland park and what happened after. we now know he drove nearly hundred and 50 miles to madison, wisconsin. while he was there investigators say the 21-year-old saw another fourth of july celebration and
forced to run for our lives as shots ring out anywhere, at any time. i want to bring in cnn s miguel marquez live for us in highland park. miguel, the suspect has now been charged with seven counts of first-degree murder. we know that he had at least two prior interactions with police officers at some point in time. what can you tell us about him? reporter: well, authorities are saying this was certainly premeditated, that he planned this for over quite some time, not only the act itself but also the escape. you mentioned he dressed in women s clothing at one point after the shooting in order to evade police. there were two incidents back in 2019, one where he had threatened to kill members of his family, the other where he was threatening suicide. in the one where he threatened to kill members of his family,
