With six nominations including Best Picture, Netflix’s “The Trial of The Chicago 7″ heads into Oscar weekend riding high, following months of acclaim for the Aaron Sorkin-directed film.
But the drama’s depiction of the infamous political trial, where a ragtag group of anti-Vietnam War activists were tried by President Richard Nixon’s Justice Department, was heavily sanitized and romanticized for Hollywood, said Lee Weiner, one of the last two living members of the notorious seven.
