UC Davis grad and television producer publishes first novel
4 minute read
After a long, successful career in television as an executive, writer and producer, UC Davis grad Grant Rosenberg ended up writing his first novel, “Gideon,” after he realized the pilot episode he’d penned for a one-hour TV show needed more depth than the TV format could provide.

After 40 years of working in television writing and production, UC Davis alumnus Grant E. Rosenberg published his first novel, “Gideon” a murder mystery set in his hometown of San Francisco.
Originally, Rosenberg had drafted “Gideon” as a pilot for a one-hour dramatic TV series but found that a 60-page script didn’t do his story or characters justice. The novel format also gave way for him to explore the themes and emotional impact on a much more complex level.
