FAIRMONT â After being hit with heavy flooding in mid-June and pledging to forego expensive repairs to its building, the Disability Action Center is one step closer to having a new facility.

FAIRMONT â The transformation of Norwood Park in East Side will reach a crucial step this week.
On Tuesday, the City of Fairmont will hold a public hearing at the Public Safety Building from 4:30 p.m. till 6:30 p.m. to gather the communityâs ideas and input on the Norwood Park project. Current plans call for the park to be transformed into an inclusive park, allowing anyone of any age and ability to play together in one space.

The Disability Action Centerâs annual sub sale, which ends today, has already surpassed the 2,000-sub mark for the first time in years. Itâs the centerâs No. 1 fundraiser.TWV FILE PHOTO
FAIRMONT â Julie Sole, executive director of the Disability Action Center, said their Annual Sub Sale is one of the largest fundraising efforts the center hosts throughout the year.
She said the center does three fundraisers each year, which bring pretty good results.
âWe have done the same three just as long as I could remember,â said Sole.
The center hosts two sub sales a year in the spring and fall and also have basket bingo and a golf tournament. She said each fundraiser is equally import to the center.
