Remembering the Holocaust

The city of Oak Ridge has proclaimed this coming Sunday, April 11, as Holocaust Remembrance Day for 2021.
The Jewish Congregation of Oak Ridge (JCOR) and the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church (ORUUC) have partnered together to present the annual Holocaust Remembrance Program. It will be held virtually on Sunday, April 11, from 7 to 8 p.m.
There will be a candle lighting ceremony, readings, prayers and music by singer-songwriter, Chuck Brodsky.
“We encourage attendees from all over the country to participate,” a news release stated.
Mira Kimmelman, a local Holocaust survivor who died April 17, 2019, initiated the Holocaust Remembrance Program many years ago. Mira is the author of “Echoes From the Holocaust: A Memoir” (1997) and “Life beyond the Holocaust: Memories & Realities” (2005). She spent many years lecturing to various community groups and classes.
