The winning entries to create murals on Weston s new rail trail have come from students at Weston High School and the Cambridge School of Weston.
A group of 18 Weston High students are planning to create 18 different panels on both sides of the Concord Road underpass of the rail trail around the theme of freedom.
Pending approval from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, which owns the bridges on the rail trail, the students will create the artwork during May under the guidance of two art teachers, Julie Hom-Mandell and Jacob Ginga.
At the Church Street underpass, a senior at the Cambridge School of Weston will create a panorama under the guidance of teacher Alison Safford, featuring Weston Town Hall, the town s seal, and four interlocking hands of people of different races.
