[applause] i was born and raised in hunters point, and i began making my living as a cosmetologist. I owned my own business. I opened a hair salon, which i had to close due to rising rent. Being a single mother with a daughter going to college, i needed to find a more stable career. At that point, i had found the city build program. Throughout city build, i learned the skills required to be a to have a successful construction career. I have benefited from Affordable Housing which is how i was able to provide and support my daughter during the city build process. After i graduated, i became a carpenter, working for Carpenters Union local 22. Before having the opportunity and the blessing of joining local 38, which is the plumbers and Pipefitters Union of San Francisco. Living here in San Francisco in the 94124 has given me the benefit and a stable career to be in and pay rent in San Francisco. Thats why we need more Affordable Housing. We need more Affordable Housing for all of the reas
Encourage everyone to keep fighting for these protected bike lanes because i know we can. Thank you. Chairman peskin Public Comment is closed. Commissioner ronen. Supervisor ronen yes. I want to thank everyone who came out. It was very eyeopening. Not that we dont know what is going on. But to hear that bikers are using the red lanes for the buses as a safer alternative to what was supposed to be the bike corridor is just insane. And the crazy thing about it is it makes perfect sense. Thats how dangerous valencia has become. I have asked the mta several times to increase enforcement of double parking on valencia. I know supervisor sheehy has done the same. I see dillon in the audience. I think we need to have that meeting again because while we will continue to prioritize and fight for protected bike lanes, thats going to take some time. I share the urgency of all the public speakers today. Im very fearful that someone is going to get severely injured or killed if we just wait to get t
That we would be potentially able to pilot Going Forward. My last comment is following what has been going on the Ev Working Group meetings and based on what i have observed during the budget season. There is a lot every assistance to switch to different typings of vehicles or to zero emission vehicles. I hope that we can push these departments to see this is the direction we absolutely have to go. It is not an option. We need to be creative in reaching the climate goals here. Thank you for the comments. There was some recent articles with regard to automatic shut off systems in the m un i fleet and have the fleet has these. I discussed this with mr. Riskin. The other half of the fleet do not have them. What is the status of procuring those . That is a question the transit colleagues are better equipped to answer. I can look into that and get you a response to the status of those switches. That would be great. Any steps we can take relative to our fleet. We see this in buses idling in
You can also measure a complaint that had merit found in wrong doing that was stopped. Thats another way to measure it. And thats never reflected in the analysis of the material i have ever seen. I think it was, we dont want to put in first of all, theyre confidential. We dont want to put in anything that would restrict participation in or reporting of information but i have never understood so closed does not speak to the merits of the number of complaints received. Im wondering if theres a reason and i think there is, but if you could tell me again, i would appreciate it. You are correct. Because the complaint is closed doesnt mean it was substantiated. We evaluate the complaint, the investigation determines if theres a factual basis for the allegations and then if the allegations are true, if the alleged conduct would violate city criteria, policy and procedure or city code does that answer the first part . Substantiated or unsubstantiated are both inside the closed category. And in
Before going through the amendments, i want to thanks my cosponsor, supervisor ronen and the advocates for sending and continuing to send hundreds of letters of support. I want to thank neighbor emerging association, parent voices and Richmond Senior center. And dozens of other people that came and testified in support of this legislation two weeks ago. And truly thankful and humbled by their commitment to fight to protect public space. I also want to thank the city attorneys office, namely andrew sims and my staff, erica mayborn and jen to actually craft some of the amendments that we will be introducing today. I probably should go for the amendments before Public Comments. And i think you have a copy of the summary of amendments. But i will Read Everything into the record. I will just summarize. It provides a streamlining process that strengthens the frameworks so the department of public works can have flexibility to enforce as we learn more about the new technology. The permitting
