heal, you are to you have to recognize the extent of the wound. howard: julie, finish your point. you re ripping off the band-aid and actually reinjuring the country by going down that road again. the point here is to move forward and to learn, and ben just made a perfect point. not only is this not to be compared to 9/11 or to pearl harbor, this is a dark stain in american history. does it represent american conservativism in this country? absolutely not. that is where the mainstream media has gone wrong for exactly one year. every single night when you turn on msnbc or cnn, all you see is them talking about january 6th. we realize the insurrection was an absolute disaster, we realize that the extremist followers of president trump s who then just got voted out of office obviously took it too far. could the president have said more to stop them? yes. do i believe that the president perhaps inspired these lunatics? perhaps. but is the president responsible
analyze, ben.com domenech ben domenech and julie banderas. ben, what s your take on the media cover only on the first anniversary of that tragedy and president biden s speech many particular? well, i m glad that you used that chuck todd clip, because it was something i was going to bring up describing your reaction to that speech as being partisan is itself in some way an indication that you ve bought into everything that donald trump says about the election or something along those lines. that s absurd. that speech was partisan. it was very clearly partisan. it was just as partisan as don lemon or joy reid or chuck todd is or anybody on these other networks who espouses these views. and i think it s very unfortunate and a mistake politically on the part of the president to go down this road. we we saw what happened in virginia in november when you had this lean in for the previous month, essentially, from democratic candidates trying to wrap january 6th and everything that happene
gets you 100 percent scot-free. howard: yeah. i understand the challenge. i worked at hhs back under the bush administration. i know it s a channel. but what, again, to agree with julie, what the cdc has been saying, it s all over the map, extremely confusing to the average american. howard: i do this for a living, and i m having trouble following it. [laughter] julie, half a minute left. a lot of schools are closing because a lot of teachers and staff and students have gotten this infection, and that s becoming a real battleground covered by the press. yeah, no. last week my kids were home schooled because everybody came bake from winter back from winter break, and there was a concern in our school they didn t want people to come back to school. thank you, biden, for giving me five days of headache on no alcohol because i decided to do a dry january on the same weekend. [laughter] howard: thank you for sharing that information or maybe
american people. howard: right. president biden took a shouted question, should americans prepare to live with covid forever. here s what he said. we re going to be able to control this. the new normal is not going to be what it is now, it s going to be better. howard: so, julie, do you think it s fair to put so much of the criticism on the cdc? rochelle walensky said to be getting media training, and is there a growing recognition by those of us in this business that we can t shut things down forever and that maybe we shouldn t count daily cases because it doesn t count [inaudible] okay. well, i do think that it s okay to say that the cdc s mixed messaging is confusing as all heck, and i don t think it s fair for, you know, the media to treat this as omicron, yes, it s going to stick around forever when the former president was attacked for not getting covid under control. now the current president who didn t get those home tests, millions of home tests out to all the families i
