Lt. Gen. Scott Spellmon, commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the 55th U.S. Army chief of engineers, signed the Chief of Engineer’s Report for the Prado Basin Ecosystem Restoration and Water Conservation Feasibility Study April 22 – on Earth Day – at the Corps’ headquarters in Washington, D.C. The project aims at restoring more than 600 acres of valuable riparian habitat within the largest riparian forest in Southern California. The project is headed by the Corps’ Los Angeles District, in partnership with the Orange County Water District.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District Commander Col. Julie Balten, visited Oceanside (CA) earlier this week to learn more about the ongoing dredging project in the harbor.
During the tour, Col. Balten, along with other representatives from the Corps, the City of Oceanside and Manson Construction, received an update about dredging project at Oceanside Harbor.
As planned, the dredging work began this week and is estimated to be completed prior to Memorial Day weekend, weather permitting.
Manson’s dredge HR Morris arrived in Oceanside Harbor on Tuesday, April 13 to begin the annual dredging campaign.
