Since last August, Hatcher Parnell has been making the very long commute back and forth from his Southern California home to the UC Berkeley campus, twice a week, in his endeavor to start something that he began more than 30 years ago. And on Friday, the 50 year-old student will be celebrating a major accomplishment and the completion of unfinished business when he walks across the stage to receive his diploma.
