(ABC 6 News) - Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz signed five budget bills over the weekend, bringing the state closer to avoiding a partial state government shutdown. Those bills include a health and human services bill and a higher education bill.
One major bill was not included in the bills signed over the weekend: the public safety bill which includes statewide police reform measures. Its been one of the most debated issues this session after the deaths of George Floyd and Daunte Wright at the hands of law enforcement.
Lawmakers have announced a deal on police reform, and the house will vote on that bill Tuesday. Though, not everyone is satisfied.
