SIDNEY When Judy Ross experienced back problems and numbness in her leg, she chose to give physical therapy a try. A Sidney resident, Ross discussed her ongoing pain, balance, and gait issues with her primary care physician, Scott Swabb, D.O. Her options included physical therapy and an Electromyography, or EMG, a diagnostic test used to measure how muscles respond to electrical signals. “I didn’t want to do the EMG, so I decided to give the physical therapy a shot,” Ross said.

Helotes teen shares Moderna COVID-19 vaccine trial experience

HELOTES, Texas – A Helotes teenager is feeling more confident stepping outside of her house these days after getting the COVID-19 vaccine. “I’ve been able to go to more places and hang out with my friends more and not like worry so much,” said 14-year-old Hannah Ross, who took part in a Moderna COVID-19 vaccine trial conducted by Tekton Research. “Nobody gets anywhere without medical trials. If nobody’s willing to take a chance, then nobody gets the benefit of having the vaccine. And so, when she said that she wanted to do it, I was supportive,” said Judy Ross, Hannah’s mother.

Kory Scott Parker WILMINGTON Kory Scott Parker, 34, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at home after a chronic illness. Born March 9, 1986, in Wilmington, he was the son of Keith and Susan Parker and Betsy Bishop and had attended Cape Fear Community High School. Mr. Parker was employed with Coastal Glass & Hardware and P.T.’s Grill Porters Neck for many years. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Kourtney Caldwell, and her fiancé, Shane Terry; niece, Sophia Caldwell; grandparents, David and Margaret Bishop; aunt, Susan Simmons (Bill); great-uncle, Harry Newton (Sue); and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
