WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) Following the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling overturning Governor Evers mask mandate local communities are issuing their own mask regulations.
The Marathon County Health Department released a mask advisory Thursday afternoon after the statewide mandate was overturned. Marathon County Health Department Public Information Officer Judy Burrows says masks are still needed to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“We really want people to understand that masking will help stop or slow the spread of COVID. So we just want to be clear that we encourage people to use masking as a prevention strategy to prevent the spread of COVID. It’s a strategy that works,”.

Wisconsin s promised vaccine registry site launched Wednesday with just one participant, as the health department works out glitches with the Microsoft-designed software.
The state-sponsored vaccination clinic in Rock County is the only vaccinator available at www.vaccinate.wi.gov.
In a news briefing Tuesday, state Department of Health Services Deputy Secretary Julie Willems Van Dijk said the department ran into some components that were not functioning the way we anticipated during pilot testing last week and over the weekend.
