The circumstances of the incident were not immediately released by police The man was airlifted to the Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, troopers said. The investigation is ongoing, troopers said. The man and the officer involved were not immediately identified by police. A State police spokesperson said most questions will be directed to the New York State Attorney General’s Office. The AG’s office has the authority to investigate police shootings if a suspect is killed by police and there is a “significant question” whether he or she was armed at the time of the shooting.

Tyler R. Green, 23 of Oneonta, was armed with a knife when officers responded to a domestic incident at about 12:57 p.m., on River Street, troopers said. The circumstances of the incident have not been released by police. Oneonta police Sgt. Ralph Pajerski was identified as the officer who fired the fatal shot, troopers said. Green was airlifted to the Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.

What does it mean for Syracuse University to be part of the larger community of the city of Syracuse and Onondaga County?  On March 4, in a town adjacent to Syracuse and in a school district attended by the children of many of our staff and faculty, a desperate mother called St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center’s mental health crisis team, the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program, to help her son during one of his frequent mental health crises. When the 17-year-old Judson Albahm took his mother’s car and fled from the mobile crisis team, the team called the police to help them pick Albahm up so that he could be brought in for treatment safely.
