On 12 October 2022, the 2023 World Judo Championships flag was handed over to the state of Qatar, the next host country of the event, at a momentous handover ceremony in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Today the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, H.E. Abdulla Nigmatovich Aripov, officially opened the World Championships Tashkent 2022, accompanied by the IJF President, Mr Marius Vizer.
