Members of the County Council took time during their final meeting of the year to recognize three members.
Council Vice-President Penny Lukenbill read a resolution from the council for Judith Stone who wasn’t at the meeting Monday. It said, “Judith Stone has been on the Marshall County Council for 12 years serving from January 1, 2008 until December 1, 2020, having served as President for 4 years. Judith Stone has retired from the Council after years of distinguished service and as a result of her outstanding leadership, Marshall County has been and continues to be financially sound with the highest ratings in the State of Indiana. Judith Stone is hereby honored by the County Council for her 12 years of outstanding leadership to the county and they acknowledge her dedication and commitment to the citizens of Marshall County.”
Friday evening three candidates will face-off to fill the vacancy on the County Council that was vacated December 1
st when Judith Stone submitted her resignation to Republican Chairman David Holmes.
Steve Harper, Kip Cook and Adam Faulstich have all filled their Declaration of Candidacy by the deadline.
Five precinct committeemen will hear the candidates speak at 5 p.m. Friday night at Republic Headquarters, 117 Water Street in Plymouth. Following the speeches, the precinct committeemen will adjourn to vote for the candidate of their choice.
The winner will finish out Stone’s term on the County Council which ends on December 31
st, 2022.
