Jurors convicted one brother of murder in the fatal shooting of Brandon Broussard.
Shavis Toby was found guilty of second-degree murder, which carries a life sentence. Carlos Toby was found not guilty. Both were convicted of conspiracy to commit second-degree murder.
Jurors deliberated for about five hours Saturday before rendering the verdict. Sentencing for the conspiracy charges will be held at a later date.
In their closing arguments that morning, attorneys on both sides said they were fighting for justice.
State prosecutors said justice for Broussard and his family would have been finding each Carlos Toby and Shavis Toby guilty on all counts.
