NEW DELHI, Dec 11: On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, 10th December 2020 an online seminar was organised on the issue of languishing Indian prisoners in the Pakistan prisons and vice versa.
The Seminar Prisoners of Contention was organized by various Indian and Pakistani organisations promoting peace in the sub-continent. Prominent activists of both the countries like Faisal Edhi, Syeda Hamid, Haya Zahid, Hamid Ansari, Mohammad Ali Shah, JivanJungi, Fauzia Ansari, Nirupama Subramanian and IA Rehman were the key speakers.
The panel discussed the landmark case of Hamid Ansari who was the first prisoner in the history of more than 65 years to be released and repatriated on the day of completion of his sentence.
