Procedural issue with lawsuit: by Derek Achong The Court of Ap­peal has sug­gest­ed that at­tor­neys for the State and a Strate­gic Ser­vices Agency (SSA) em­ploy­ee, who was in­jured af­ter falling on the job, en­gage in dis­cus­sions as she can no longer pur­sue a law­suit over the in­ci­dent due to a pro­ce­dur­al is­sue.  Ap­pel­late Judges Nolan Bereaux and Char­maine Pem­ber­ton gave the sug­ges­tion yes­ter­day as they dis­missed Can­dice Hoyte’s ap­peal over a tri­al judge’s re­fusal to al­low her pur­sue her law­suit against the SSA.

Appeal Court fails to agree on judge’s recusal: Prisoners’ lawsuit to be heard again by Derek Achong The State’s ap­peal over the re­fusal of a High Court Judge to re­cuse her­self from a con­sti­tu­tion­al law­suit, in which three men ac­cused of mur­der are chal­leng­ing the con­di­tions of their re­mand, will have to be heard a sec­ond time. Dur­ing a vir­tu­al hear­ing yes­ter­day, Ap­pel­late Judges Nolan Bereaux and Char­maine Pem­ber­ton stat­ed that they failed to agree to the same out­come in the pro­ce­dur­al ap­peal.
