A Somerset County woman is facing a multitude of felony charges after her 3 month old child died from an apparent overdose. Wednesday, she had her preliminary hearing
Stoystown woman, Chauntel Gindlesperger is facing multiple felonies after her 3 month old child died of an overdose. According to the criminal complaint, the incident took place back in October of 2020.
Wednesday during her preliminary hearing the commonwealth added two additional charges against Gindlesperger, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
This in addition to the original charges filed against her which include criminal homicide.
During the preliminary hearing, exert pathologist, Dr. Lauren Huddle took the stand and explain the infants cause of death was acute diphenhydramine toxicity. Huddle says this drug is most commonly seen in the form of Benadryl and Zzzquil; both of which Gindlesperger told police she had given to the victim,

SOMERSET, Pa. A Stoystown woman will stand trial for homicide, accused of giving her nearly 4-month-old infant a lethal dose of Benadryl and a cocktail of other medications, authorities said on Wednesday.
District Judge William Seger, of Windber, ordered Chauntel Gindlesperger, 29, to stand trial for the boy’s Oct. 30 death.
State police in Somerset charged Gindlesperger with homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children.
Dr. Lauren Huddle, a forensic pathologist for ForensicDx in Windber, and Trooper Patrick Hauser testified for the prosecution.
